Beef Momo

Filling Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or your protein of choice)

  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric

  • 1 tbsp garam masala

  • 1 tsp cumin powder

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

  • 1/2 cup onions (yellow or red, your choice)

  • 1/4 of a whole cabbage

  • 1-inch knob ginger

  • 1 small carrot

  • 3 cloves garlic

filling Instructions:

  • In a blender/food processor blitz the cabbage, ginger, carrot, and garlic until very fine.

  • In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients and mix very well! To taste, take a tiny piece and put it into the microwave to quickly cook—this trick is strictly to taste and NOT to be used to cook your filling! After tasting adjust salt, pepper, and other flavors accordingly.

  • If your protein choice is tofu, beef, Impossible beef, or shrimp, your filling is ready to be stuffed (raw), it will cook in the steaming process. If you are using chicken or pork, we recommend cooking the filling ahead of time in a little bit of oil.

  • Add to your dumpling wrapper, roll to use the desired shape, and steam for 6-9 mins, until dough and filling are cooked.

  • Serve with sauce, and enjoy!

Sauce ingredients:

  • 2 large tomatoes

  • 2 dry chillies

  • 4 raw almonds or pecans

  • 1-inch knob ginger

  • 1 tsp bouillon powder or salt

  • 1/2 tsp sugar

  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder

sauce instructions:

  • In a pot of boiling water, toss in your tomatos, chilies, and nuts. Cook until the skin of the tomato starts to peel off.

  • Remove everything and rinse it in a bowl of ice water. Peel off the tomato skin and add all 3 items into a food processor/blender.

  • In the blender add ginger, bouillon powder or salt, sugar, and ground pepper.

  • Puree until everything is mixed. Taste and add more of what you think is missing according to your palate.
